The client is part of the global pharmaceutical company. The facility is focused on the development and manufacturing of biologic medicines, particularly in the fields of immunology, oncology, and infectious diseases. They specialize in producing large-scale biologic drugs, which are typically made from living cells and are used to treat complex diseases. 

Role Description
The HVAC Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing asset maintenance strategies for utilities and building systems within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Acting as a subject matter expert (SME), the role ensures the reliability, compliance, performance, and lifecycle management of critical assets while supporting maintenance operations, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. You assume full ownership of asset strategy development, long-term asset planning, major asset modifications, and strategic improvement programs. The role also provides technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to stakeholders across engineering, maintenance, and project teams. Key systems include pharmaceutical utility and facility assets such as HVAC, High Purity Water (HPW), Pure Steam, gases, and other critical building and process support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve asset maintenance strategies to maximize asset reliability, compliance, and performance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Site Asset Management Plans (SAMP) and Asset Management Plans (AMP).
  • Identify, initiate, and monitor asset improvement initiatives, including the implementation of new technologies and maintenance methodologies.
  • Define asset monitoring requirements, alarm strategies, alarm limits, and performance measurement approaches.
  • Develop long-term asset roadmaps, establish Long-Term Investment Plans (LTIP), and create business cases for asset replacement or modification projects.
  • Act as a technical SME during the introduction of new assets and major asset modification projects.
  • Participate in or lead engineering projects related to utility and building systems.
  • Ensure effective asset handover from project teams into operations and maintenance.
  • Support asset standardization and alignment with long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, high-level cost estimates, and strategic evaluations for business-critical projects.
  • Provide technical support for complex maintenance issues and troubleshooting activities.
  • Lead the preparation, execution, and closure of maintenance shutdown activities for assigned utility and building systems.
  • Conduct compliance investigations related to equipment or asset failures.
  • Perform root cause analyses and support the development and execution of CAPAs.
  • Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) studies and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs (PMPs).
  • Drive compliance system improvements and act as designated system or process owner where required.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for asset maintenance management.
  • Review and evaluate supplier maintenance plans and technical service strategies.
  • Manage supplier contracts related to asset maintenance and reliability.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and engineering standards.
  • Define and monitor asset performance indicators and reliability metrics.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure inspection readiness.
  • Provide coaching, training, and technical guidance to maintenance personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Advise on spare parts management, inventory strategies, and maintenance master data.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Installation Technology or a related engineering discipline
  • 2-6 years of experience in maintenance engineering within a regulated industrial environment.
  • Utility systems, including HVAC, High Purity Water (HPW), Pure Steam, Process and utility gas systems
