Role Description
As an OT Support Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and optimizing the operational technology (OT) environment at the client's production site in Veghel. Working close to the production process and automation systems, you will support the maintenance organization in resolving software-related disruptions, implementing corrective changes, and delivering improvement initiatives that enhance production efficiency and minimize downtime. This is a broad and hands-on position within a team of seven OT engineers. Beyond technical troubleshooting, you will act as a coordinator who works closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to prioritize issues, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of solutions. The role combines operational support, project ownership, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on collaboration, initiative, and personal development. The position follows approximately a 20% breakdown for incident resolution, 60% for project and improvement work, and 20% for professional development and learning.Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve software and automation-related issues within the production environment.
- Implement corrective software modifications to address operational disruptions and recurring system failures.
- Develop and execute improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing production performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Work closely with Operations to identify priorities, understand process challenges, and determine the most effective solutions.
- Coordinate work within the OT engineering team by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring efficient use of engineering resources.
- Support planning and budgeting activities related to OT projects and maintenance activities.
- Manage and oversee engineering support activities performed by other engineers while maintaining accountability for delivery and resource utilization.
- Train, coach, and support maintenance personnel in the use and understanding of OT systems.
- Maintain and enforce OT engineering standards, best practices, and system integrity.
- Support a highly automated production environment containing a wide range of industrial automation systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and actively participate in team development activities.
- Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Approximately 2 to 5 years of experience in a technical production environment. Candidates with limited experience but strong potential are encouraged to apply.
- Experience within the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, or other process industries is preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems is highly desirable.
- Experience with one or more of the following systems is advantageous: Siemens PCS 7 (V8/V9), Wonderware Historian, Simatic IT, FactoryLink/TI, Industrial automation, process control, and manufacturing systems
