The Breda site operates within a highly regulated environment and relies on complex utility systems to support its manufacturing operations. You will join a small, dedicated Facilities & Engineering team responsible for the lifecycle management and continuous improvement of critical site infrastructure.
Role Description
As a Senior Engineer / Mechanical System Owner, you will be responsible for the lifecycle management and technical performance of critical utility systems, with a strong focus on chillers, HVAC and compressed air systems. You will support troubleshooting, maintenance optimization and reliability improvements while working closely with service providers, project managers and senior engineers. The role combines hands-on technical problem solving with system ownership, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), maintenance strategy development and engineering project support within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as System Owner for utility systems, with a primary focus on chillers, HVAC and compressed air.
- Support troubleshooting of unplanned maintenance issues and provide technical guidance to service providers.
- Lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and identify recurring failure modes.
- Develop and optimize maintenance concepts, including preventive maintenance activities.
- Review and optimize maintenance jobs and improve maintenance effectiveness.
- Lead actions to eliminate repetitive failures and improve system reliability.
- Support the lifecycle management and continuous improvement of site utility systems.
- Act as a user/owner of CMMS systems, preferably Maximo.
- Work with Project Managers and Senior Engineers on utility engineering and asset replacement projects.
- Ensure projects and maintenance activities meet schedule, budget, quality and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience; senior-level experience is required.
- Strong experience with utility systems, particularly chillers; HVAC and compressed air experience is highly relevant.
- Experience in operations, manufacturing or an industrial environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and RCA capabilities.
- Experience with maintenance strategies, reliability improvement and preventive maintenance.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience in a regulated/GxP environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of CMMS, Maximo, SAP/ERP and MS Office is advantageous.
- Familiarity with FAT/SAT/SIT, validation, building automation or process automation is a plus.
- Willingness to participate in 24/7 duty call service, approximately 1–2 times per month.
