The client is one of the Netherlands’ biggest dairy products manufacturers who is also active globally.   

Role Description
The Cost Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate financial management, reporting, and governance while supporting business performance and operational excellence. The role combines hands-on financial control with project management, data analytics, and process improvement initiatives. Working within a global manufacturing environment, the Cost Controller will drive change, provide actionable insights, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve financial processes, controls, and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Managing financial planning, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Executing month-end closing processes and ensure the accuracy of financial results.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
  • Generating financial analyses and management reports to support business decisions.
  • Leading cross-functional projects aimed at improving financial and operational processes.
  • Developing and maintaining RACI matrices to clarify roles and responsibilities within projects.
  • Driving operational excellence initiatives and supporting organizational change programs.
  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring successful implementation of improvements.
  • Performing in-depth financial and operational data analysis, with a focus on cash visibility and budget management.
  • Identifying trends, risks, and opportunities through data-driven insights.
  • Optimizing the use of existing business intelligence, reporting, and analytics tools.
  • Providing strategic recommendations based on analytical findings.
  • Acting as Key User for financial processes related to capital expenditure (Capex) projects.
  • Overseeing the indirect purchasing process through Coupa.
  • Coordinating and monitoring the internal control framework and compliance activities.
  • Ensuring accurate accounting, depreciation, and valuation of fixed assets.
  • Following up on improvement actions and ensuring timely execution of corrective measures.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, financial control, and reporting.
  • Experience with Capex accounting and project financial management is considered an advantage.
  • Proven experience in process improvement, change management, or project management within a complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, and internal control frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with SAP/BW is required or highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Spotfire BI, Oracle HFM, and related reporting tools is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and identify corrective actions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities across functions and organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently in a complex, matrix-based environment.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and capable of driving change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to translate financial information into actionable business insights.
