Role Description
As a Packaging Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring that packaging materials comply with global food contact and packaging legislation. You will work within an international packaging development environment, supporting product innovation, consumer safety, and sustainability initiatives. The role focuses on compliance assessments, regulatory documentation, risk evaluations, and stakeholder support across multiple global markets.
Responsibilities
- Review, assess, approve, and maintain packaging compliance documentation
- Prepare, evaluate, and manage Declarations of Compliance for packaging materials
- Assess packaging materials against food contact regulations and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate PFAS, heavy metals, NIAS, and other compliance related requirements
- Ensure packaging materials comply with local and international legislation across multiple markets
- Support implementation and assessment of Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation requirements
- Maintain packaging specifications and compliance data within global systems
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and support mitigation activities
- Provide regulatory and compliance guidance to internal stakeholders and development teams
- Support customer inquiries related to food safety and packaging compliance
- Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Supplier -Quality Management, and Packaging Development teams
- Participate in weekly and monthly compliance team meetings
- Support packaging sustainability and innovation projects from a compliance perspective
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Material Science, Chemistry, Food Science, Food Technology, Regulatory Affairs, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in Packaging Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Food Contact Materials, or Technical Compliance
- Strong knowledge of European food contact and packaging legislation
- Experience with Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation requirements
- Experience reviewing Declarations of Compliance and technical regulatory documentation
- Knowledge of PFAS, heavy metals, and food contact material assessments
- Experience within Food, Food Ingredients, Chemicals, Consumer Goods, or another regulated industry
- Understanding of compliance risk assessments and regulatory evaluations
- Experience working in international and cross functional environments
Knowledge of specification management systems
- SAP PLM experience is preferred
- Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, detail oriented, and solution focused mindset
- Fluent English is required
