About the Role
This role is responsible for leading occupational safety activities during complex engineering and maintenance projects. You act as the safety authority throughout project preparation and execution, ensuring compliance with safety standards while actively strengthening the site safety culture. The position combines strategic oversight with hands on field supervision.
Responsibilities
- Act as safety lead during multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance projects
- Develop and review EHS plans and work permits for safe project execution
- Supervise field activities and coordinate workers and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and site regulations
- Maintain and improve safety processes such as permit to work and lock out tag out
- Conduct risk assessments and support project safety evaluations
- Deliver safety training sessions for employees and contractors
- Coach teams to continuously improve safety awareness and behaviour
- Participate in audits and inspections including regulatory and ISO standards
- Lead or support incident investigations and corrective actions
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 7 years experience in construction management or engineering environments
- Strong background in occupational safety within complex organisations
- Experience with international management system standards such as ISO 14001
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate in changing environments with multiple organisational levels
- Strong communication skills and high professional credibility
- Safety certification such as secondary safety expert or comparable is preferred
- Fluency in both Dutch and English
