Role Description
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for safeguarding product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance within the organization. This role acts as a key partner to production and the QE Manager, ensuring that quality management systems are effective, continuously improved, and aligned with industry standards and certification requirements. The position combines hands-on quality oversight with analytical insight and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards relating to food safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Maintaining and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) and process control procedures.
- Leading and participating in internal and external audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up of corrective actions.
- Monitoring certification requirements (IFS, HACCP, RSPO, Beter Leven) and ensuring timely renewals and adherence.
- Acting as a primary point of contact and assisting to the QE Manager and production teams on quality-related matters.
- Initiating, coordinating, and supporting continuous improvement projects focused on quality and operational efficiency.
- Conducting root cause analyses for deviations, complaints, and production issues, implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Overseeing the resolution of quality issues and production blockages, with a strong focus on prevention and risk mitigation.
- Contributing actively to cross-functional improvement initiatives and project teams.
- Managing relationships with external stakeholders such as laboratories, certification bodies, pest control services, and suppliers.
- Translating analytical data and findings into actionable insights and improvement recommendations for management and production.
- Preparing, analyzing, and presenting KPIs, reports, and trend analyses to relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinating and facilitating internal training sessions and toolbox meetings on quality and food safety topics.
- Supporting knowledge sharing within the QE team and ensure up-to-date understanding of relevant legislation and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (HBO level) in Food Technology, Food & Quality Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including IFS, HACCP, RSPO, and Beter Leven standards.
- Proven experience with audit processes, process control systems, and quality reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and quality assurance software tools.
- Strong command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
