Role Description
As R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for executing laboratory-based experimental work within a regulated R&D environment. You will support the development, improvement, and validation of products, analytical methods, and production processes. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to generate, analyze, and report experimental data, while also supporting laboratory operations, equipment management, and compliance-related activities such as NCR, CAPA, deviations, and audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform experimental laboratory work, data analysis, and reporting for R&D projects
- Support development and improvement of existing products and production processes
- Develop and validate analytical methods for new and existing products
- Contribute to development of new products and manufacturing processes
- Support installation, qualification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Plan and execute experimental work in collaboration with senior team members
- Manage laboratory operations including stock control and ordering of consumables and chemicals
- Conduct incoming inspections and maintain lab organization and compliance standards
- Support NCR, CAPA, deviation, and audit-related activities
- Ensure accurate documentation, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering or related field
- 2–4 years (MSc) or 4–6 years (BSc) laboratory experience in pharma or medical device industry
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as NMR, SEC, KF, FT-IR, GC, microscopy
- Experience with sample preparation, data analysis, and interpretation
- Experience in analytical method development and validation is preferred
- Experience in polymer chemistry and/or organic synthesis is a strong advantage
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Hands-on laboratory mindset with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken). Dutch is an advantage
