The Company
Our client is a leading, innovation-driven manufacturer operating in a highly regulated environment. The site brings together engineering, production, quality, validation, automation and digital teams to support safe, reliable, high-performing manufacturing and packaging operations.
About the Role
For a modern packaging and labelling operation, we are looking for a Lead Mechatronics Engineer – Packaging & Labelling Systems. This role supports project teams delivering new equipment and system upgrades, while also acting as a technical escalation point for complex mechatronics issues. The focus is on improving equipment reliability and line performance through structured troubleshooting, technical evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Support project teams with the deployment of new products, system upgrades, and new equipment on advanced packaging and labelling lines.
- Own and drive high-quality technical execution across projects of varying complexity, with a strong focus on asset lifecycle and maintainability.
- Act as the mechatronics subject-matter expert for engineering, maintenance and project teams.
- Provide second-line support to technicians for complex equipment and process issues, ensuring structured root-cause analysis and robust countermeasures.
- Investigate recurring or high-impact problems and recommend practical, sustainable improvements.
- Act as system owner for assigned equipment/systems and proactively contribute to technical improvements and cross-functional performance initiatives.
- Plan and execute assigned engineering and maintenance-related activities within projects, from preparation through to completion.
- Create test protocols, support execution of testing, perform technical evaluations, and deliver clear technical assessment reports.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across engineering, automation, digital, validation, quality, supply chain and manufacturing, as well as external vendors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including strong exposure to operations/manufacturing environments.
- Deep hands-on and theoretical knowledge of mechatronics (mechanical/electrical/control interaction).
- Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and experience solving complex equipment problems.
- Experience as a system owner and familiarity with lean maintenance / continuous improvement ways of working.
- Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., GMP and related standards).
- Fluent English communication (written and spoken); Dutch is a plus.
- Willingness to occasionally support outside standard office hours when needed.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
