Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Automation Design Engineer to support a major expansion project at its Oss manufacturing site. As part of the Business Technology team, you will play a key role in delivering automation and IT solutions for new production equipment and systems. Working closely with project teams, global IT stakeholders, and external vendors, you will be responsible for designing, engineering, testing, and implementing automation solutions that support business and manufacturing objectives. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale greenfield projects, guiding automation activities throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept and design through commissioning and operational handover.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation solutions aligned with project goals and technical requirements.
- Perform requirements gathering, system analysis, and risk assessments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and design records.
- Support the programming, configuration, upgrading, and optimization of automation systems.
- Execute and document system qualification and validation activities, including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ testing.
- Collaborate with vendors and global IT teams to integrate new process equipment and systems into existing manufacturing environments.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues throughout project execution.
- Support project planning, scoping, and feasibility assessments for new initiatives.
- Monitor project progress and communicate risks, issues, and status updates to project stakeholders.
- Contribute as a key member of multidisciplinary project teams consisting of Project Managers, Technical Operations Engineers, Validation Engineers, Quality specialists, Automation Engineers, and Production representatives.
- Ensure automation solutions comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality guidelines.
- Minimum 7 years of experience delivering automation projects within industrial manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems, preferably Siemens, Rockwell, and iFix.
- Proven experience with equipment engineering, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and formulation processes, ideally within pharmaceutical or life sciences environments.
- Understanding of industrial networks, Windows Active Directory, and related IT infrastructure.
- Experience working within regulated industries and familiarity with GAMP guidelines and computerized systems validation.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and global stakeholders.
- Proactive, hands-on, and results-driven approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English both written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel within Europe as required.
- Interest in contributing to a long-term, multi-year expansion project.
