Job Description
We are seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to join the EVM team. This dual role combines technical safety expertise with hands-on construction supervision. You will act as a subject matter expert in safety systems while ensuring successful execution of engineering projects in the field.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, control, and improve safety systems, processes, and practices.
- Lead and support implementation of safety standards and systems.
- Coach and develop colleagues to strengthen safety culture.
- Conduct safety-related risk assessments and support project safety evaluations.
- Participate in audits and inspections (ISO 14001:2015, EH&S Audits, regulatory agencies).
- Lead or participate in incident investigations.
- Develop and deliver safety trainings.
- Supervise daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to schedule and plans.
- Lead and coordinate workers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure safety compliance through permits, inspections, and regular safety meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
- Experience with international management system standards (ISO 14001).
- Proven ability to work in complex organizations during times of change.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and adaptability skills.
- Dedicated to sustainable EH&S improvements with a proactive “can-do” mentality.
- Secondary safety expert certification (“MVK”) or comparable qualification preferred.
- Proficiency in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
