Category Procurement Manager, Hengelo, Overijssel

Role Description
As a Category Manager, you will manage several procurement categories end?to?end. This includes strategy development, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management. You will coach a team of category buyers and work closely with engineering, operations, quality, legal, and finance to support business objectives. 

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies in line with business needs and global procurement standards
- Lead supplier selection processes (RFI/RFP/RFQ), ensuring proper evaluation and stakeholder alignment
- Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, focusing on total cost of ownership and risk mitigation
- Drive supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, compliance, and innovation
- Manage risks and opportunities across the supply base, including operational, commercial, financial, cyber, and ESG aspects
- Maintain market insights and identify relevant technological trends for category improvement
- Support supply base optimisation, including dual?sourcing, localisation and make?or?buy analysis


Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or category management, preferably in the mechanical segment
- Proven experience in high?tech or technical environments
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Experience leading complex supplier selections and managing cross?functional stakeholders
- Leadership capability, including coaching or developing junior buyers
