Role Description
As a Category Procurement Manager , you will take ownership of multiple sourcing categories in a strategic, hands-on role. You will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies, managing key supplier relationships, and leading complex sourcing and contracting activities. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive improvements in cost efficiency, quality, supply resilience, and innovation across the supply base.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business and procurement objectives.
- Lead supplier selection processes (RFI/RFP/RFQ) and manage contract negotiations.
- Manage and improve supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, compliance, and sustainability.
- Identify and mitigate supply-base risks, including contractual, operational, financial, cyber, and ESG risks.
- Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to drive effective sourcing decisions.
- Optimize the supplier base through initiatives such as make-or-buy, dual sourcing, and local sourcing.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, legal, finance, and project teams to ensure compliant and cost-effective procurement.
- Use digital procurement tools and data analytics to support reporting and continuous improvement.
- Lead, coach, and develop procurement team members.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or category management in a high-tech or technical environment.
- Proven experience in sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance management.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing and executing category strategies.
- Analytical mindset with experience using digital procurement tools.
- University degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Fluency in Dutch and English.
