Role Overview
As Materials Controller – Home Care, you will act as the finance lead for material cost performance across Home Care Europe. In this role, you partner closely with Procurement, Supply Chain, and FP&A to manage material costs, land savings, and mitigate inflation impacts. You own the full monthly material cost cycle—from actuals to forecast—and translate complex data into clear insights that protect and grow gross margin.
This is a full-time temporary position based in Rotterdam, offering strong exposure to European stakeholders and strategic sourcing decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly closing and performance review for material costs across Home Care Europe
- Lead material cost forecasting, aligning assumptions, risks, and opportunities with Procurement, Supply Chain, and FP&A
- Track and validate procurement savings and value initiatives in forecasts, plans, and actuals
- Support key sourcing decisions, tenders, and supplier changes with solid financial analysis
- Monitor material inflation/deflation, FX, and other cost drivers and translate impact to P&L and gross margin
- Partner with markets on material cost impacts, transfer prices, and one-off items
- Provide a clear European view on material risks and opportunities in global and business group forums
- Simplify and improve tools, templates, and reporting for material cost tracking
Support ad-hoc FP&A activities such as planning cycles and risk & opportunity reviews

Requirements
- Strong finance background with solid understanding of costs, P&L, and gross margin drivers
- Proven experience in business partnering, ideally with Procurement and/or Supply Chain
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large data sets
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Ability to translate detailed data into clear, actionable insights
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a monthly closing cycle
- Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or consumer goods environments
- Exposure to material cost management, sourcing, or supply chain finance
- Experience working in a European or multi-country scope
- Knowledge of financial systems and reporting tools (e.g. SAP, Power BI)
