Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer to support ATEX Compliance Projects. In this role, you will oversee all mechanical engineering activities within the ATEX program, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, suppliers, and on-site stakeholders, maintaining high standards of technical quality, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform ignition hazard analyses for mechanical equipment and process systems.
- Participate in project, technical, and site meetings to ensure coordinated progress.
- Inventory, assess, and document mechanical and ATEX-related equipment from existing systems.
- Update and maintain P&IDs in AutoCAD, including installation changes, coding updates, ATEX zoning, and equipotential bonding.
- Prepare key engineering documents such as the BoD, technical specifications, purchase requests, and RfQs.
- Maintain the Technical Construction File (TCD) and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Carry out FAT, SAT, and incoming inspections to verify equipment quality and readiness.
- Support and supervise mechanical work execution to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality project outcomes.
Requirements
- HBO degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Technology, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in the food or process industry, ideally in brownfield environments.
- Strong knowledge of EHEDG, PED, and powder handling/transport systems.
- Proactive, analytical, detail-focused, and able to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills and fluent in Dutch (spoken and written).
