Role Description
The Calibration Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that all production and measurement equipment used in the manufacture of medical devices is accurately calibrated and compliant with internal and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role supports calibration activities, contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures the site remains in a state of audit readiness. The technician will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, operations, and facilities teams.
Responsibilities
- Performing and coordinating routine and non-routine calibration of instruments and equipment per established procedures and schedules.
- Approving and overseeing calibration work order execution.
- Ensuring timely completion of all calibration activities and documentation.
- Supporting the calibration and qualification of new equipment and maintaining data in the calibration management system.
- Initiating and supporting the investigation of nonconformances (NCs) found during calibrations.
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and compliance.
- Collaborating with engineering to manage and update equipment information and preventative maintenance (PM) schedules.
- Maintaining continuous compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Supporting audit readiness by ensuring accurate and up-to-date calibration records.
- Reporting any business-related issues or opportunities to the appropriate management level.
- Upholding and promoting a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the team and business objectives.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of related experience preferred; associate degree or equivalent desirable OR 4–6 years of relevant experience preferred; associate degree or equivalent desirable.
- Proficiency in Dutch and/or English.
- Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments and calibration principles.
- Comfortable with data entry and use of spreadsheets/databases.
- Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
- Effective problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
- Commitment to regulatory compliance and quality standards.
