Role Description
The Lab Technician supports laboratory operations by performing technical and diagnostic tests within a regulated scientific environment and QC settings. Working with complex systems and equipment, the technician operates either independently or under the supervision of senior scientists or specialists. The role involves preparing experiments, executing standard trials, collecting and processing data, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
 
Responsibilities

• Prepare and control all necessary preparatory work for laboratory activities, including the provision of materials, reagents, and equipment.
• Perform trial productions and standard tests under supervision, in accordance with approved protocols and procedures.
• Support experimental design by contributing to simple experimental setups under guidance.
• Execute changes related to contracts, trial design, and trial execution as instructed.
• Accurately collect, process, and combine experimental data into clear, presentable formats, including automated data outputs.
• Perform calculations and verify results, displaying outcomes by sample contributors and providing comments where required.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate laboratory documentation, including explaining and recording work performed in the laboratory journal.
• Remain alert to deviations or differences in experiments, testing, and sample provisions, and report findings appropriately.
• Carry out operational activities to ensure proper laboratory functioning, such as daily equipment checks and routine maintenance.
• Detect, report, and support the resolution of equipment failures or malfunctions.
• Provide support activities including ordering laboratory supplies, managing equipment inventories, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Work with moderate supervision while demonstrating technical skill, reliability, and growing expertise within the role.

• Completed MBO or HBO education in Laboratory Technology, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Practical laboratory experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques, equipment, and data recording practices.
• Basic understanding of experimental design, data analysis, and automated data systems.
• Ability to follow protocols, work accurately, and maintain high-quality documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and awareness of deviations in experimental results.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured environment.
• Comfortable working both independently and under supervision within a team setting.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken); Dutch is an advantage.
