Role Description
The Food R&D Specialist will drive innovation and renovation within the chilled dairy portfolio, with focus on fermented dairy. The role involves developing new products, improving existing recipes, supporting cost and nutrition programs, and running lab-to-factory scale tests. You will work closely with Marketing, QA, Supply Chain, Procurement, and R&D teams to deliver high-quality, consumer-focused solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support development of new dairy products, ensuring compliance with nutritional targets, claims, cost, and sensory performance.
- Execute renovation projects including quality improvement, raw material contingency, and value engineering.
- Perform recipe transfers between factories and prepare technical documentation.
- Conduct advanced data analysis using large datasets to support nutrition frameworks and cost-saving initiatives.
- Plan, organize, and execute lab, pilot, and factory-scale product tests; analyze results and prepare clear reports.
- Present findings to internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, supply chain, QA, research, procurement, technology teams, and external suppliers.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in food technology, food processing, dairy technology, physical chemistry, or similar.
- Minimum 5 years of product development or analytical experience in the food industry; fermented dairy experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Competencies: analytical, hands-on, quality-focused, proactive, punctual, decisive, well-organized, team player, entrepreneurial mindset.
- High proficiency in Excel and familiarity with PowerBI.
- Willingness to travel to production sites in the Netherlands and Belgium, including Maasdam.
- Driver’s license required.
- Food industry experience required; dairy experience is a plus.
