Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join the Manufacturing Systems team. The successful candidate will support the reliability and security of manufacturing automation systems, contribute to system upgrades, and ensure seamless operation across existing and new equipment within the production environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of manufacturing systems and automation projects, ensuring timelines are met
- Develop, review, and approve design and requirement specifications for automation systems
- Ensure equipment implementation aligns with network security standards, including domain setup and firewall configurations
- Maintain equipment security in accordance with company standards, including security software and data integrity measures
- Provide regular progress updates to project management teams
- Implement automation standards for hardware and software, including the installation of monitoring tools
- Participate in Data Integrity Assessments and automation preventive maintenance activities
- Advise on spare parts inventory and create asset spare parts lists
- Develop and test backup and restore procedures, work instructions, and parameter review processes
- Support integration activities such as connecting to PI data historians and other systems
- Assist in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), commissioning, and qualification activities
- Provide automation training to maintenance, engineering, and operator teams
- Offer operational support on the production floor when needed
- Update related documentation to maintain operational readiness and support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation Engineering, Industrial Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control and automation support within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Proven track record of managing projects independently in a global, cross-functional environment
- Strong understanding of automation hardware and software standards
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Ability to influence project outcomes within matrix organizations
- Critical thinking skills and a creative approach to problem-solving
- Self-motivated and adaptable to a fast-paced, evolving environment
