Keep in mind that when writing a CV everything you include is relevant to the job you’re applying for.
Last but not least: the presentation of a CV is very important as well.
Your CV must look clean and professional, avoiding too many different colours
Sections and headings should be clearly marked
Stick to a standard letter type

Why should I write a cover letter?
After you have completed/updated your CV, it is time to write a cover or motivation letter. This will be the first - more personal - document a potential employer will receive from you. Therefore it’s very important to take your time for this letter and put some thought into it, as it is an opportunity for you to stand out from the crowd and get through to the next round.
If possible, put the name of a mutual contact in the first sentence.
If you can relate your desire for the job to an experience or anecdote in your life, mention it.
Story telling works. If you have an anecdote, you should definitely use it.
This might be to up front, but you could wrap up by saying when you will be getting in touch: “I’ll try to reach you by phone next Tuesday at 2:00 pm and hope we can connect.”
In most cases: send the letter as an attachment and format it like a business letter with your address at the top, then the date and then the address of the recipient. Use the same letter type as you’ve done in your CV.
Furthermore, write a cover letter that will be different and outstanding. It is a personal letter, so try to show who you are in this letter, but do not forget to stay formal. Make sure you provide relevant and interesting information, which will impress the reader. However, keep in mind that you have to tell the truth, so do not exaggerate. This might bring you in a difficult situation during the interview.
