Role Description
As a Project Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe execution of medium to large-scale construction activities. The role focuses on proactive safety management, strict adherence to EHS requirements, and close collaboration with project teams and contractors to prevent incidents and embed a strong safety-first culture.
Safety is the top priority in all decisions and activities. You will play a key role in integrating safety into daily construction operations while supporting leadership with clear reporting and risk mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate construction safety activities across complex project sites.
- Review, verify, and approve work permits to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and safety walkthroughs.
- Identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviors, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Review and assess project EHS plans for adequacy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, contractors, and site leadership to integrate safety into project execution.
- Support risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe acts or conditions are observed.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety-first mindset among all workers and contractors.
- Report safety performance, findings, and incidents to project and EHS leadership.
Requirements
- Relevant education or certification in Occupational Safety (e.g., MVK or equivalent).
- Proven experience supervising construction safety on medium to large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and EHS requirements.
- Ability to prioritize safety over schedule and cost pressures.
- Excellent observation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and confidently in a field-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of local safety regulations and industry standards.
- Native-level Dutch language proficiency.
