Role description
The QAQC and NDT Consultant is responsible for optimizing systems to implement unbiased non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques in compliance with applicable codes and standards. This role plays a crucial part in facilitating effective cooperation between asset owners and contractors, ensuring that processes, from requesting NDT deployment to delivering documentation to the inspection department, are carried out efficiently and successfully. 

Responsibilities 

  • QA/QC – Developing, implementing, and managing QA/QC procedures and guidelines relevant to shutdown activities. Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards. Reviewing QA/QC documentation and reports from suppliers and contractors. Identifying and reporting non-conformities and initiating corrective actions. Coordinating QA/QC activities with various departments and teams on site.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT PWHT hot work) – Planing, organizing, and executing NDT activities, including ToFD, PAUT examination, radiography, CPR, and other methods. Validating PAUT examinations on smaller diameters not yet harmonized in the code/standard. Analyzing NDT results, ensuring proper documentation and reporting. Assessing suitability and performance of NDT equipment and methods. Implementing new NDT techniques to reduce inspection lead times and minimize bias. Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards during NDT execution.
  • Coordinating and coaching QA/QC and NDT activities during the prefabrication phase. Supporting the inspection and control of prefabricated components and materials. Ensuring a seamless transition from prefabrication to shutdown activities.
  • Collaboration and Communication – Working with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to align QA/QC and NDT activities. Report findings, issues, and progress to the TAR Manager and relevant stakeholders. Participating in meetings, providing updates on QA/QC and NDT status. Coaching and mentoring contractors to adhere to project quality and safety standards.
  • Training and Development – Providing coaching and mentoring to contractors and personnel on QA/QC and NDT procedures. Facilitating continuous improvement of QA/QC and NDT processes through mentoring and feedback. Supporting the implementation of new NDT techniques and the enhancement of contractors’ skills and knowledge. 

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in quality assurance and control, specifically in shutdown activities.
  • In-depth knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, such as ToFD, PAUT, radiography, and CPR.
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards related to NDT and QA/QC.
  • Proven track record in coordinating QA/QC activities across various departments and teams.
  • Ability to analyze NDT results, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project teams, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring personnel on QA/QC and NDT procedures and standards.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental standards during NDT activities.
